OpenAI will soon open its first office in Washington, DC, aiming to strengthen ties with policymakers and expand public understanding of its technology, Semafor reported on Monday, citing company sources.
Called "The Workshop," the new space will provide training on OpenAI's tools for lawmakers, educators, and nonprofit organizations. Some visitors may even get early access to upcoming products. Chris Lehane, the company's global affairs chief, told Semafor that showing the technology in action is OpenAI's most effective way to build support. "One of the things that we've discovered is that our technology is our best advocate, our best educator, our best lobbyist," she said.
The office will be led by Chan Park and Joe Larson, who is moving over from the defense firm Anduril.
