ADP: US private payrolls rise by 179K in November

Employment in the United States private sector increased by 179,000 in November, according to the ADP National Employment Report released on Thursday.

The service sector added the most jobs, increasing by 163,000 with professional and business accounting for 59,000 jobs. The goods-producing sector added 16,000 jobs, most of which were in construction, which added 10,000 jobs. Mid-sized companies in the private sector added 119,000 jobs, while the number of people employed in small businesses grew by 46,000 and was up by 13,000 in large firms.

"Although the labor market performed well, job growth decelerated slightly," vice president of the ADP Research Institute Ahu Yildirmaz commented on the report. "Midsized businesses added nearly 70% of all jobs this month. This growth points to the mid-sized businesses' ability to provide stronger wages and benefits. IIt also suggests they could be more insulated from the global challenges large enterprises face," he added.
