Afghan govt ready to talk with Taliban - official

In an interview to Russian outlet RIA Novosti, spokesman for Afghanistan’s High Peace Council (HPS) Ehsan Taheri said on Wednesday that the government of Afghanistan is ready to negotiate a peace settlement with representatives of the Taliban without any preconditions, including a future constitution of the country.

"Nowadays, we – the government and the High Peace Council – declare that there are no prerequisites for the launch of the talks," HPS spokesman stated during the Afghan peace conference in Moscow.

Previously, the government in Kabul conditioned any future talks with obedience to the constitution and laying down the weapons.
