Alphabet rallies to record; S&P at five-month high

Upbeat sentiment on Friday helped the main stock indexes in New York build somewhat on early small gains, with technology taking the lead. The Nasdaq 100 index, which is dominated by the said sector as well as healthcare, 0.26% higher at 7,385.675 points, an intraday record for the second day in a row, together with several of its major components.

Alphabet Inc. managed to surpass the historic peak from January 29 and held 0.91% higher at $1,194.2178 at 4:40 pm CET as its target price was raised to $1,350 from $1,245 by Cowen and Co.

The S&P 500 advanced 0.14% at 4:48 pm CET to 2,802.23, the strongest mark since February 2. The Dow Jones touched 25,000 points for the first time since June 18, a rise of 0.3% for the day.
