Apple cutting down iPhone production by 10% - report

Apple Inc. is cutting down the production of new iPhones by 10%, the Nikkei Asian Review reported.

The tech giant requested its suppliers produce approximately 40 million to 43 million phones for the January-March quarter instead of the previously agreed 47 million to 48 million units, sources close to the matter told Nikkei. This marks the second time in the last few months that Apple decided to cut its production, with the first reduction happening in November.

The news comes after Apple's CEO Tim Cook dismissed worries over the company's performance following Apple's decision to lower its revenue guidance for the first quarter of 2019.
