Asian markets record losses as Turkish lira tumbles

Markets in Asia and Australia descended deep into the red territory on Monday, after the decline of Turkish lira, which lost around a third of its value against the dollar and the euro in less than a week, after the doubling of United States tariffs on metal from the country.

Japan's Nikkei 225 shrunk by 1.86% at 6:02 am CET.

China's Shanghai Composite fell 1.73% at 5:30 am CET, while the Shenzhen Composite index was down 1.42% at 6:16 am CET.

Hong Kong's Hang Seng contracted by 1.83% at 6:05 am CET. South Korean Kospi Composite was 1.87% lower at 6:26 am CET.

Australia's S&P/ASX 200 dipped 0.60% at 6:27 am CET.

The American dollar decreased by 0.61% against the Japanese yen, going for ¥110.1760 at 6:28 am CET.
