Attack on UK security firm in Kabul kills at least 10

At least 10 people have been killed and another 19 injured in an attack on premises of British security services company G4S plc in Afghanistan's capital Kabul on Wednesday, local authorities stated. Health official noted the number of fatalities is expected to rise.

According to the Afghan Interior Ministry, the incident in east Kabul involved a car bomb, as well as numerous gunmen who entered the compound and fought with security forces. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, claiming "the attack was a response to recent enemy atrocities against civilians in Kandahar, Nangarhar and Helmand."

The G4S compound was already targeted by the Taliban in March this year when two civilians lost their lives in an explosion which target the security firm.
