Azar promises lower drug prices

United States Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Azar (pictured) said the administration is preparing to roll out more regulatory action on drug prices. In an interview with Axios published on Thursday, Azar explained the administration sees itself at "the advanced stage of beginning at this effort," before adding "We’re taking on anybody that we need to take on."

President Donald Trump signed the Know the Lowest Price Act and the Patient Right to Know Drug Prices Act on Wednesday, promising to lower drug prices. Earlier in July, Trump lashed out at the US drug-maker Pfizer and other big US pharmaceutical companies, alleging they are raising drug prices "for no reason." He went on to accuse that the pharma giants of "taking advantage of the poor and others unable to defend themselves" while at the same time lowering prices in Europe and elsewhere.
