Car bombings in Mogadishu kill at least 41

A string of car bombings in the Somalian capital Mogadishu that happened on Friday killed at least 41 people, local police confirmed on Saturday. According to the officials, the explosions that took place near the city's trendy Sahafi hotel were executed by an extremist group Al-Shabaab which is linked to Al-Qaeda.

The blasts left over 100 people wounded. The authorities stated that most of the victims were civilians and that the majority of the people that died were passengers riding on the local minibuses.

The extremist organization has been fighting to overthrow the Somali government for over ten years.
