China welcomes Russia's help to construct orbital station

Chinese National Space Administration Secretary-General Li Guoping stated on Monday that it welcomes Russia's help for the construction of its future orbital station, TASS reported. According to the official, Beijing is ready to accept help from Moscow and other nations that have already worked on similar projects.

"Russia is one of China’s main partners in space cooperation," stated Li. He added: "As far as China’s orbital station is concerned, it is in the construction phase and will be completed by 2022. We intend to cooperate with many countries, including Russia, Germany and France on this project."

China plans on constructing an orbital station that will have three main modules - two laboratories and one base unit. The project start date is anticipated to begin this year and the first unit expected to become operational in 2022.
