Dow drops 200 pts as shutdown, China worries continue

The Dow dropped just over 200 points briefly on Friday not long after the opening bell, pressured by worries over the continuing government shutdown and trade talks with China. The last round of talks in Beijing ended earlier in the week with no significant breakthrough announced. Meanwhile, the government shutdown is in its 21st day, with no end in sight.

At 10:02 am ET, The Dow Jones Industrial Average index was falling 145 points, or 0.61%. Meanwhile, the Nasdaq slid 0.54%, while the S&P 500 declined 0.47%.
