Europe lower in premarket ahead of Brexit deal vote

European shares fell in Monday's premarket trading as investors focus on tomorrow's crucial vote in the British Parliament on the Brexit withdrawal agreement. In a speech before the House of Commons later today, UK Prime Minister Theresa May is expected to say that the parliament is more likely to block Brexit altogether than allow the UK to leave the European Union without a deal. Meanwhile, it was reported earlier today that the EU will issue a letter to the UK with a series of reassurances regarding the contentious Irish backstop clause.

The FTSE 100 was trading 0.56% lower in premarket, while the DAX fell 0.70% before the opening bell. Meanwhile, in Paris, the CAC 40 was down 0.85% at the same time. The euro gained 0.11% against the dollar to sell for 1.1474 at 8:54 am CET, while the pound fell 0.10% versus the US currency to go for 1.2831 at the same time.
