Flake says he will try protect Mueller in Senate

Republican Senator Jeff Flake said he will try to force a vote on legislation protecting Special Counsel Robert Mueller following Attorney General Jeff Sessions resignation. The Senate Judiciary Committee passed a bill last year that would protect special counsel in case he is fired but it was stalled over GOP opposition.

Flake said that he and Democrat Senator Christopher Coons will try to get the Senate to set up a vote. "When the Senate convenes next week, @ChrisCoons and I will ask for unanimous consent to bring S.2644, the Special Counsel Independence and Integrity Act, to a vote on the Senate floor. After the firing of The AG, it is more important than ever to protect the Special Counsel," Flake tweeted.
