France calls on Iran to stop missile-related activities

France's Foreign Ministry urged Iran to halt all of its activities related to nuclear weapon-bearing missiles, according to various media reports on Friday.

French Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Agnes von der Muhll said during a daily briefing that "France recalls that the Iranian missile program does not conform to United Nations Security Council Resolution 2231" and that it should cease all missile-related activities including tests with ballistic missile technology.

The United States also previously warned Iran against launching satellites into space, claiming that such an action would violate the abovementioned UN Security Council resolution. However, his comments were dismissed by Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif, who said that the US was in no position to lecture anyone as Iran's launch would not violate the resolution. Iranian President Hassan Rouhani also said earlier today that Iran would launch two satellites into orbit in the next few weeks.
