Ghosn indicted on two new charges

Tokyo District Court prosecutors indicted former Nissan Chairman Carlos Ghosn on two new charges of financial misconduct on Friday, according to a statement from his lawyer Motonari Otsuru.

Ghosn was charged for aggravated breach of trust for allegedly trying to transfer personal investment losses to Nissan's books back in 2008, while the other charge concerns misrepresentation of his compensation in the period from 2015 to 2017. Otsuru and his team have applied for bail to release Ghosn. The lawyer, however, said that the ex auto executive would be held in detention until the trial, that is for another six months.

The ousted chairman appeared before the court earlier this week, the first time since being detained in November on allegations he misrepresented his salary. Ghosn denied charges against him, calling them "meritless and unsubstantiated."
