Indonesian authorities release preliminary Lion Air report

Indonesian authorities released a preliminary report on the Lion Air plane crash calling on the company to improve its safety culture and better document repair work on its planes. The officials were not able to determine the precise cause of the crash, however, they found the plane was put back into service despite an unrepaired issue with the airspeed indicator.

The transport safety agency found the pilots also had problems with the Boeing 737 MAX's anti-stall system, adding one more item to the list of issues with the Boeing's newest passenger plane, whose safety analysis is currently under review by the United States Federal Aviation Administration.

The final crash report is expected to be released sometime next year.
