Irish Sea to include border in case of no-deal Brexit - report

European Union will include a plan to put a customs border in the Irish Sea in case of a no-deal Brexit, the Times reported. Citing a leaked letter from United Kingdom's Prime Minister Theresa May to Arlene Foster, the head of Democratic Unionist Party, the Times states Brussels also plans to leave Northern Ireland as a part of a single market and customs union, despite earlier comments made by May that such a proposal would never be agreed upon.

"The Prime Minister’s letter raises alarm bells for those who value the integrity of our precious Union and for those who want a proper Brexit for the whole of the UK. It appears the Prime Minister is wedded to the idea of a border down the Irish Sea with Northern Ireland in the EU single market regulatory regime," Foster said.

Earlier, Austrian media reported the agreement on United Kingdom's departure from the EU will be signed off by negotiators from both sides on Monday next week, while the Sun claimed May will ask for more time to strike a deal with her Cabinet members, which reportedly haven't seen the final close addressing the backstop.
