Labour to call for no-confidence vote if Brexit deal fails - report

Labour, the main opposition party in the United Kingdom, is preparing to call for a no-confidence vote in Prime Minister Theresa May's government, the Guardian reported citing messages sent to the party's members of parliament (MPs). The vote could take place on Wednesday, a day after the parliament vote on May's Brexit deal, which the opposition expects to fail.

"There is now recognition that we cannot wait any longer. If May goes down to defeat and she does not resign and call an election, this is the moment we have to act," a shadow cabinet member told the newspaper. The current Brexit deal is unpopular both with the opposition and some ruling coalition MPs, including Northern Ireland's DUP, May's key cabinet partners. The European Union has stated the deal cannot be changed at this point, just months ahead of the UK's official exit from the union on March 29.
