Merkel's plane makes emergency landing en route to G20

German Chancellor Angela Merkel's plane made an emergency landing on Thursday as it made its way towards Argentina for the G20 summit due to "technical problems," media reported.

The aircraft was forced to divert to Cologne, Germany, after a problem in "some electronic systems" was diagnosed one hour into the flight, according to several reports.

The crew is reportedly currently replacing the malfunctioning part on the chancellor's Airbus A340-313X VIP in Cologne. Merkel is expected to continue with her journey to Argentina once the issue is resolved.
