Some 54 people were killed, half of them civilians, in a US-led air strike on the holdout of the Islamic State group in Syria, Syrian Observatory for Human Rights
said.

According to the report by the Britain based war monitoring group, 28 civilians were killed and 26 IS fighters in an air raid on an ice factory in a village Al-Sousa close to the border with Iraq.

"The coalition or our partner forces may have conducted strikes in the vicinity of Al-Soussa and Baghour Fukhani," the coalition said in a statement and added: "We are forwarding the report to our Civilian Casualty Cell for further assessment of this allegation."
