Mueller's team starts final report on meddling - sources

Special counsel Robert Mueller's team started writing its final report on the investigation in alleged Russia's meddling in 2016 United States presidential elections, CNN reported on Thursday citing sources familiar with the matter. The special counsel recently asked President Donald Trump's team of lawyers to make a list of calls and visitors to Trump Tower in New York before the election, the report said. Mueller is expected to finish the probe by the end of the year.

Trump's legal team is also reportedly reviewing the answers it is submitting to the special counsel's office after Mueller sent a letter to the president's lawyers with a list of questions. Trump's personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani later said that any questions regarding an alleged obstruction of justice related to the investigation will not be answered by the president. Also, he added that a meeting between the president and the special counsel can only be arranged if such questions are ruled out.

The news of Mueller's final report come a day after US Attorney General Jeff Sessions submitted his resignation. Trump announced he would be temporarily replaced by Matthew G. Whitaker, who is expected to take over the oversight of the special counsel's investigation. US media also reported that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein will step down this week.
