NASA successfully lands spacecraft on Mars

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) successfully landed its InSight spacecraft on Mars.

The spaceship traveled for seven months, flying over 300 million miles to reach its destination of Elysium Planitia on the Red Planet. The InSight sent its first picture from Mars' surface minutes after its landing.

NASA said that its InSight mission, which stands for Interior Exploration using Seismic Investigations, Geodesy and Heat Transport, will focus on studying the deep interior of the planet.
