Navarro: US to stop China talks unless settled in 90 days

Director of the United States Office of Trade and Manufacturing Policy Peter Navarro (pictured) said on Friday that the US would walk away unless China delivers on its commitments agreed upon during the meeting between US President Donald Trump and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping at the G20 summit.

Asked by reporters whether Washington would abandon discussions with Beijing if trade talks are not settled in 90 days, Navarro said that the administration would "move forward" with the planned 25% tariff increase.‚Äč

Meanwhile, Director of the National Economic Council Larry Kudlow stated that the president has indicated he may be "willing to extend the 90 days period" should the trade talks with the world's second largest economy go well. Earlier, Trump agreed with a statement issued by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce stating that the talks have been very successful.
