US initial jobless claims down 1,000 to 214,000

Initial jobless claims in the United States for the week ending November 3 amounted to 214,000, which is 1,000 lower than the previous week's revised level, the US Department of Labor reported on Thursday. The 4-week moving average stood at 213,750, going down by 250 compared to the previous week's revised average.

The seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate was recorded at 1.1% for the week ending October 27, same as the previous week's unrevised percentage. The seasonally adjusted insured unemployment during the same week fell by 8,000 compared to the previous week's revised figure, to 1,623,000, the lowest level since July 28, 1973. The 4-week moving average was 1,633,250, falling by 7,500 from the previous week's unrevised average, marking the lowest level since August 11, 1973.
