Nissan, Mitsubishi's Ghosn arrested – report

Carlos Ghosn, top executive of the Renault–Nissan–Mitsubishi Alliance, was apprehended in Japan after interrogation by prosecutors in Tokyo for allegedly reporting income that was smaller than authorities found, Yomiuri Shimbun wrote on Monday.

Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. expressed the intention to fire him and said it has proof of several years of serious misconduct after an internal investigation which lasted several months. The carmaker said its chairman has been using company assets for personal needs. Filings showed cash compensation of ¥962 million (8.5 million) from Nissan and Mitsubishi Motors Corp., where Ghosn is also the chairman, for the fiscal year which ended with March.
