Sanders to force vote to end Saudi Yemen support

United States Senator Bernie Sanders will attempt to force a vote to stop any further support for Saudi Arabia's military effort in Yemen. The resolution, if passed, will require President Donald Trump to pull back any troops in Yemen within 30 days unless they are fighting al Qaeda.

"Despite Trump's venal support for the Saudi regime, I am confident that we now stand an excellent chance to win this vote which I plan on bringing back to the Senate floor this week," Vermont's senator told his supporters in an email.

Earlier, Washington stated it will stop refueling Saudi-led coalition aircraft conducting bombing operations in Yemen, while the Houthi rebels said the Sana'a-based government is ready for a "broader ceasefire" if Riyadh wants peace.
