Wall Street closes mostly flat as shutdown nears record

Markets in the United States closed mostly flat on Friday as the US partial federal government shutdown nears record-length. President Donald Trump said he is currently not looking to declare a national emergency to obtain funding for his proposed border wall. "We want Congress to do its job," the president stated during a roundtable on border security at the White House.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 finished the session flat, while the Nasdaq 100 closed 0.30% in the red led lower by Activision Blizzard plunging nearly 10% after the gaming company is parting ways with Bungie.

The euro was down 0.31% against the dollar at 4:00 pm ET, buying 1.1462.
