Pelosi to hold talks with Dems amid Sessions departure

United States House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi scheduled talks with members of the Democratic Party caucus over Attorney General Jeff Sessions' resignation a day after midterm elections, Politico reported on Thursday. The Democrats are likely to discuss a future stance to take when they effectively take over the House of Representatives in January, the report said.

Following Attorney General Sessions' resignation, President Donald Trump said the position will temporarily be assumed by Sessions' Chief of Staff Matthew G. Whitaker until a permanent replacement is announced. Whitaker will reportedly not recuse himself from special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into alleged Russian interference in 2016 presidential elections.

Four Congress Democrats urged the Trump administration to preserve all documents related to Mueller's investigation.
