SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket takes 64 satellites to orbit

Elon Musk's SpaceX sent 64 small satellites into the orbit in its 19th launch this year, surpassing last year's 18 successful liftoffs. It set a record for the number of spacecraft launched to orbit on a single rocket in the United States.

In cooperation with rideshare and mission management provider Spaceflight, SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket was launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. According to Spaceflight, the satellites belong to 34 organizations from 17 different countries, "from government and commercial entities including universities, startups, and even a middle school. The payloads vary from technology demonstrations and imaging satellites to educational research endeavors."
