Trump looking at potential replacements for Sessions - report

United States President Donald Trump is looking at replacement candidates for the position of attorney general, presuming the current AG Jeff Sessions will leave the office later in the year, Wall Street Journal reported.

Citing White House officials and outside advisors, possible successors to Sessions are the Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar, Transportation Department general counsel Steven Bradbury, former Attorney General Bill Barr, Deputy Secretary of State John Sullivan and retired appeals court judge Janice Rogers Brown.

Trump has been highly critical of the current attorney general for his decision to recuse himself from the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election. Reportedly, the president has considered firing Sessions as the tensions between the two intensified.
