Trump to name Milley as next joint chiefs of staff chair - report

United States President Donald Trump is expected to name General Mark Milley as the next chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Washington Post reported on Friday citing unnamed individuals with knowledge of the plans.

The president reportedly considered two officers for the job. Apart from Milley, Air Force Chief of Staff General David Goldfein was seen as the next Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman, preferred by Defense Secretary Jim Mattis.

The current chairman, General Joseph F. Dunford Jr., is due to leave his post in fall 2019.
