Turkey needs US military support in Syria - report

Turkey is asking substantial military support from the United States in order to be the main fighter against the Islamic State extremists in Syria, the Wall Street Journal reported citing US officials. They warned the Turkish requests are so huge that, it fully met, the US army not only will not be able to leave but will be even more involved in Syria.

White House National Security Adviser John Bolton, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs Gen. Joseph Dunford and James Jeffrey, the State
Department envoy for Syria will participate in the negotiations next week in Ankara on how Turkey might take over the mission in Syria.

US President Donald Trump said earlier that he and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan agreed for the Turkish army to replace US troops in Syria and continue fighting against Islamic State.
