UK GDP growth estimated at 0.6% in Q3

United Kingdom's gross domestic product (GDP) rose 0.6% in the third quarter of 2018 compared to the previous three-month period, according to a preliminary estimate released by the United Kingdom's Office for National Statistics on Friday. On an annual basis, the UK economy grew by 1.5% compared to the same quarter a year ago.

All four output sectors, services, industry, construction and agriculture, recorded growth in the July-to-September period. The UK GDP growth was most supported by the services industries, rising 0.4% and contributing 0.3 percentage points to the figure. Meanwhile, output in the energy sector climbed by 1.9% in the three months to September.

The report noted that net trade contributed 0.8 percentage points to the GDP as exports jumped 2.7% between the second quarter and the third quarter.
