US business inventories grow 0.3% in April

Inventories in the manufacturing and trade sectors in the United States were estimated at $1,930.0 billion in April, a release by the US Census Bureau said on Thursday. The figure was 0.34% higher than in the previous month, and rose 4.4% on an annual basis.

The combined value of distributive trade sales and manufacturers’ shipments for the last reported month stood at $1,425.9 billion, increasing 0.4% month on month, and 6.7% year on year.

The total business inventories/sales ratio based on seasonally adjusted data at the end of April was 1.35, sliding from 1.38 a year ago.
