US, Mexico, Canada to sign USMCA on November 30

Mexican Economy Minister Ildefonso Guajardo said in Mexico City on Friday that the new North American Trade deal, dubbed the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), will be signed during the upcoming G-20 meeting in Buenos Aires on November 30.

Guajardo noted it is still not known if the presidents of the US and Mexico and the prime minister of Canada will take part in the signing, but stressed it is "clear" the USMCA will be signed at the end of the month.

However, the trade deal, which was struck in October, will have to be approved by lawmakers from all three North American countries before it can come into effect. US President Donald Trump has voiced concern over the deal passing the US Congress, noting he expects Democrats to try and obstruct the approval. Trump's fears likely intensified after Democrats took control of the House of Representatives in the midterm elections earlier this week.
