US trying to spoil atmosphere ahead of Trump-Putin summit - Russia

Russia's Foreign Ministry said on Friday that the indictments against 12 Russian nationals by the United States were announced with the apparent intention to "spoil the atmosphere" ahead of the meeting between the two countries' presidents, Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, scheduled for July 16 in Helsinki.

The ministry also noted that there is no proof that the charged individuals were linked to the Russian Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU) and insisted US accusations of hacking are "unsubstantiated."

Earlier, the US announced that 12 GRU officers were charged for hacking into the computers of the Democratic National Committee. The charges include conspiracy to commit computer crimes, aggravated identity theft and conspiracy to launder money.
