Wall Street closes mixed after Fed report

Markets in the United States finished the session on Thursday mixed following volatile trading which saw the Dow Jones swing more than a 1,000 points in two days. Meanwhile, a report suggesting the US Federal Reserve is mulling a more cautious approach to interest rate hikes emerged. The blue-chip index dropped over 700 points after news of the arrest of Huawei's Chief financial Officer Meng Wanzhou broke, indicating trade relations between China and the US took a turn for the worse, but Fed officials signaling a "wait and see" approach to rate rises eased the market turmoil.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 0.32% in the red with Boeing leading the losses as it fell 3.09%. The S&P 500 dipped 0.15% as SVB Financial Group plunged nearly 9%. The Nasdaq 100 gained 0.64%; Take-Two Interactive Software led the gains as it jumped 4.44%. The euro traded flat against the dollar at 10:12 pm CET, buying 1.1383.
